Commonly Asked Scanner Questions

Is you scanner networkable?

YES
. The SLC936C is networkable through our dedicated PC host.

Can it handle the paper sizes/volumes I need to scan?

Yes. The SLC936C can scan documents as wide as 36", but it has no length limitation. For example, Hospitals use heart monitor ECG charts that are 200 feet in length and the SLC936C fits their needs. In terms of volume, due to Widecom’s adaptive thresholding technology, a service bureau can realistically perform 700 to 800 scans per day (based on the individual drawings condition).

How long is your warranty?

A 90 day on-site warranty is included with the original price of the system. 18 and 24 month warranty are available from all of our local Authorized Reseller/Service Centers. Scanners are serviced locally by the factory trained Resellers, not returned to the factory as do most other scanner manufacturers.

What sort of support do you provide?

Widecom provides full support on hardware and a variety of third party software packages.

How easy is installation?

Installing the unit is relatively simple. After removing the scanner from its packaging, you simply place the machine at the workstation you want to utilize it with. The next step is to install the parallel interface board into your PC and also install the software. Finally you hook up the cable from the PC to the scanner and calibrate it. The whole procedure should take approximately one to two hours.

How extensive is the documentation?

Widecom’s User Manuals are very comprehensive, clear and to the point.

Does the Interface look like other Window Applications?

Yes. Widecom offers a TWAIN driver, which is an industry standard interface for narrow format scanning. It allows the Widecom scanner to be universally compatible with many off-the-shelf software packages for wide format scanners. And what’s impressive is that Widecom is the only wide format scanner to offer this compatibility.

Are paper jams easily fixed?

Yes. When they rarely occur, they are extremely easy to fix. You simply pull up on an external lever at the back of the machine and pull the paper original out.

Is the scanner upgradeable?

Yes. This is the most outstanding feature of our black and white scanner. You can upgrade the unit from monochrome to color. The SLC936 is the only scanner on the market with the ability to do so.

How easy is maintenance?

It’s very easy! Simple wipe downs of the machine and quick cleaning of the glass is sufficient. No regular alignment or other checks are required.
